Domus Templi. Maestrazgo + Green Way. (self guided)
In the Northeast of Spain, between the regions of Catalonia, Valencia, and Aragon, we find numerous villages founded by the Templarian Knights as defensive fortresses. Set among rocky crags, they have witnessed numerous bellicose conflicts. It is wild and mountainous country and one of strong contrasts, where man has forged his version of History.
Programme 9 days.
Day 1: Arrive to Tortosa and sightseeing the city and Templar castle La Zuda.
Day 2: Ride to Torre del Compte: Green Way Val de Zafan.
Day 3: Torre del Compte – Castellote Templar village.
Day 4: Visit The Crystal Caves and go on to Montoro de Mezquita village (8 inhabitants).
Day 5: By mountain roads so quiet to Cantavieja village. It is the High Maestrazgo.
Day 6: Cantavieja-La Iglesuela del Cid- Ares y Sarratella.
Day 8: Ride to Peñíscola beside Mediterranean beach and visit the city-castle.
Day 9: Farewell.
