For centuries this area formed the frontier between the Aragonese, Catalans and Muslims from the Kingdom of Valencia. An extraordinary route which will bring us into contact with the most representative landscapes of north-eastern Spain. The itinerary finishes in the town of Morella, a fortified town with high walls and towers.
Programme 9 days. GR 7
Day 1: Meet up in La Cañada de Verich/La Cerollera.
Day 2: Walking day. Circular stage: Barranco Fondo. Conglomerate sceneries.
Day 3: Transfer by car towards Beceite. Climbing up Penyagalera, one of the highest and beautiful top in Matarranya.
Day 4: Walk from Beceite to Font Ferrera Hut go on GR8 between its gorges and peaks: Moles de Arany. Hike through Els Ports forest.
Day 5: Get Tozal dels Tres Reis, a place plenty of history and excellent balcony over the region. Arrive in La Tinença de Benifassá. Boixar village.
Day 6: Explore ancient trails from Boixar to Vallibona follow the famous path GR 7 to Morella.
Day 7: Walk from village to village crossing meadows and woodland. Stunning sceneriy and unspoilt area.
Day 8: Get to know Morella and enjoy walking through narrow medieval streets Visit its fascinating castle.
Day 9: Return home or add extra days to your trip.
